The Hypex 180W Version is working perfect in active boxes with 10" 4 Ohm Bass, but to my surprise the 400W version has poor bass performance on Bose Acoustimas boxes, compared with reference amp Yamaha P3500S, which has a much richer and warmer sound. Also I checked the temperature raise with a sensor and it became unexpected 50°C hot @ heatsink under medium condition while mounted on a big alu plate plus additional heat sink. For the second item I will recheck if the heat transmission is done perfect because there was a heat spot just at the amp' s heatsink, but I am afraid that it might shut down during big party of the end user.
Then ICE 2x250W version which was tested before on Bose, had even worse bass performance. Not bad, but not full, not rich. This is surprising because the Acoustimas is fit for only 200W per channel, but very significant difference in the comparison with Yamaha. This is indoubting my idea to avoid the old style of so called "iron pigs", heavy, big and uncomfortable, but Yamaha P3500 is also a class D amp, I assume, the analog version of it.
