Capacitors sound different. They may be in the power supply or the signal path and have a very different sound level on a high-end audio device based on their form and construction. If you want to learn more about capacitors, their function and what might be the right capacitor for your DIY-project, check out our crossover components blog!

ClarityCap counts as one of the best brands for crossover components on the market. Their capacitors are appreciated and valued all over the world. ClarityCap supplies some of the world's top loudspeaker manufacturers for over 30 years. Here at SoundImports, you can buy ClarityCap capacitors and choose from a great variety.

        ClarityCap capacitors and their history

ClarityCap designs and manufactures metallised plastic film capacitors for use in audio applications since 1974. ClarityCap has improved its materials, processes and systems over the years to ensure that the consumer hears the difference that ClarityCap capacitors make. Via collaborations with university testing teams and a portfolio of top high-end audio suppliers, ClarityCap has been able to improve and extend its solution for all audio capacitor requirements for their end-users. The results of their observations were the exhibition of some forms of distortions by all capacitors. Replication of these features of their goods was too adequate for Clarity's work. ClarityCap capacitors range accommodates almost any need in high-end audio systems from only 10nF (0.010uF) to over 200uF. Manufacturing the capacitors is just as important as promoting and selling them. That is why all the capacitors are fabricated in ClarityCap's factory. ClarityCap does this because they believe that being the manufacturer is the best way to monitor any part of the feature of the capacitor and guarantee that any capacitor has the same sound quality and efficiency all the time.

        ClarityCap CMR-Series

The CMR uses the same micro-phonics sequence film construction and acrylic tube damping, taking inspiration from the widely respected MR-Series. CopperConnect technology significantly decreases grain boundary crossings in the end connection. It allows designs to use narrower ESR condenser films without adding a corollary increase in the impedance of the end connection. The principle of reducing as many crystal limits as possible is applied to the use of tinned oxygen-free copper leads of premium grade 1.0mm2.

        ClarityCap CSA-Series

Inspired by the widely appreciated ESA-Series, the CSA uses the same carefully learned micro-phonics to minimise processing parameters. CopperConnect technology greatly diminishes the end connection grain boundary crossings. It helps designs to use narrower films for decreased ESR capacitor without adding the corollary rise in the impedance of the end connection. The concept of cutting as many crystal distinctions as possible is applied to the usage of tinned oxygen-free copper leads of premium grade 1.0mm2.

        ClarityCap MR-Series

As a direct result of the 2-year research programme undertaken between Clarification Cap and the world-renowned Acoustics Research Centre at the University of Salford, the MR-Series has been created.

Both the components used in audio capacitors and any current performance data were included in the study, along with the review of production processes and techniques. The key element that emerged was the impact of mechanical resonances on sound quality within a capacitor and the importance of minimising or regulating the sonic output of a capacitor.

        ClarityCap ESA-Series

By reducing resonant sonic outputs from the capacitor winding itself, the performance of the ESA capacitors has been dramatically improved. This is accomplished through careful selection of the highest quality polypropylene base film paired with thick metallisation of pure aluminium and close control of critical manufacturing processes for their metallised plastic film capacitors.
