High-Quality Audio Performance
The Dayton Audio KABD-4100 DSP Amplifier Board delivers high-quality sound without drawing a lot of power. This is due to the highly efficient TDA749x Class D amplifier chips. The TDA749x operates at 89.5% efficiency, thus eliminating the need for a large heat sink and reducing its overall size. Its high efficiency becomes a major advantage when powering from batteries as it prolongs the playtime of a single charge. Its ultra-low distortion and pop-free performance make this hi-fi amplifier board an integral asset in any quality audio build.
Integrated DSP Chip
Unlike other amplifier boards, the Dayton Audio KABD-4100 includes a built-in ADAU1701 DSP chip. Create nearly limitless possibilities of EQ, crossover, bass enhancement, time alignment, and more thanks to the ADAU1701 DSP chip. Make advanced crossovers with ease without capacitors, inductors, or preamp boards, and get almost immediate feedback on how your project sounds. SigmaStudio software and Dayton Audio DSPB-ICP1 or KPX programming boards (sold separately) combine together to let you set audio parameters to produce hi-fi quality sound. Download SigmaStudio into your desktop or laptop computer and plug the small ICP1 or KPX board into the USB port using a USB cable (sold separately). To quickly adjust the sound there are four potentiometers (sold separately) that plug into four sockets on the KABD-4100 amp board.
Highest Quality Bluetooth
The Dayton Audio KABD-4100 includes a built-in Qualcomm Bluetooth 5.0 module with aptX HD. The advantage of Bluetooth 5.0 is its low power consumption which prolongs the playtime of battery-powered builds. The streaming audio quality rivals that of CDs since the Bluetooth chip supports aptX, aptX HD, aptX LL, SBC & AAC. High receive sensitivity with RF power up to 9 dBm and -90 dBm, and on board antenna ensures stable wireless connectivity up to 15m (50ft.) The onboard external antenna jack enables the KAB board to be mounted in a metal enclosure with an external antenna (sold separately). Designed and built for Bluetooth demonstration purposes, this fully functioning module provides a turn-key approach to Bluetooth certification for consumer goods. If the application of this board is for hobbyist or industrial purposes then nothing is required to enjoy the full convenience of pairing and streaming high-quality Bluetooth audio. The KABD-4100 is also CE and FCC-ready for certification purposes.
Included with the KABD-4100 are four-wire harnesses: One for DC power, a Bluetooth reset button, and two sets of speaker wires. For many users, these cables are all that is needed to complete a project. Since the board has four channels you need the two sets of speaker wires to create a 2.1 or four-channel audio project. With the additional onboard connectors, wiring harnesses (sold separately) are available to speed-up installation and create confident connections without soldering. Dayton Audio also offers a variety of accessories with robust features to make installation even easier. Find out more about optional accessories below.
Adding optional potentiometer controls has never been easier
SigmaStudio Integration
Although your KABD amplifier houses its own ADAU1701 DSP chip, to communicate with your PC, a USBi programmer is required. Dayton Audio has two compatible programmers -- the DSPB-ICP1 and the KPX. The programmer can be thought of as the bridge between your PC and your DSP chip so that they can communicate.
What do I need to connect my KABD Amplifier to SigmaStudio?
Bass Optimization
Low pass and infrasonic (high pass) filters offer total control over the range your woofers play, and precise PEQ can optimize the bass response of the woofer to your tastes. EQ could even be used to apply room equalization to improve the accuracy of your speaker’s bass performance inside of a specific room.
Dynamic Bass Enhancement
Dynamic Bass Enhancement increases the proportion of bass at lower volumes while decreasing the proportion of bass at higher volumes. A common practice in commercial Bluetooth speakers, this allows for a full, bass-heavy sound from small drivers or exciters at lower volumes, but protects them from being overdriven at higher volumes.
SuperBass
SuperBass algorithm uses principles of psychoacoustics to increase the perception of bass by generating harmonics above the chosen crossover frequency. This can be especially useful when using small drivers or exciters.
Bass Boost
Analog Device’s Dynamic Bass Boost Algorithm will provide more bass boost at lower input levels than it will at higher volumes. This type of boost is incredibly common in portable speakers, creating the effect of the speaker sounding full and bass-y at low volumes, but preventing overdriving the speaker at higher volumes. If this block is too confusing or in-depth for you, see the next page for a simpler version.
Precise Tonal Control
This could include things such as selective bass boosts, treble boosts, or even just precise filters to correct other errors in frequency response.
Parametric EQ
There are many types of filter blocks, however, the parametric EQ block allows for graphic, easy to use, and precise adjustment of numerous bands of peaking filters, high/low pass filters, tone shelves, and more.
Potentiometer Controlled Filters
Control your filters with the external potentiometers which will adjust the filter based on the position of the potentiometer. This filter works by pre-calculating a specific number of filters based on user parameters and then storing them into the DSP memory
