As the name suggests, the Engine-400 is the driving force in the ICEbricks-series from ICEpower. ICEbricks are a revolutionary way for building amplifiers using super compact, stripped-down, high-end building blocks. The approach and quality are not only unique not only unique among our amplifier modules category but also unparalleled by any other amplifier product. The Engine-400 offers high audio quality, low losses, small size, robustness, flexibility and long life.
Believe it or not; this small circuit board is an amplifier module that can deliver 400 watts (RMS) at 4Ω or up to 300 watts (RMS) at 8Ω with excellent audio characteristics. The Sierra loop design keeps distortion at very low levels across the entire audio band. At the same time, maintaining the first-order characteristic at -3 dB at 100 kHz ensures a very low phase shift at 20 kHz. Engine-400's output impedance is just a few milliohms in the audio band and noise is less than 30 uVrms, giving a dynamic range of 122 dB; that's a factor of 1.3 million! The high-density multilayer circuit board acts as a heat sink and provides sufficient heat dissipation for music playback in an ambient temperature of 45 ⁰C.
The ICEbricks, by themselves, do not offer the plug-and-play functionality most of our amplifier modules offer. However, in exchange, they provide you with maximum design freedom, without having to deal with complex switch mode electronics design. You can select your own input stage but also the electrolytic capacitors, filter capacitors, VA+/- and VDR regulators you prefer to use. You also can choose how to handle the protection alarm signals in your own preferred way. Looking at the five rail supply requirements might be daunting. This is where another brick comes to play. The ICEbricks AUX-plant is the solution; this DC/DC converter is specifically designed to supply the VA+/- and VDR voltages from your main supply to the Engine-400.
The ICEbrick motherboard is the plug-and-play solution. Combining two Engine-400's, one AUX-plant, storage capacitors, supervision, balanced input buffers and connectors to connect it to a +/- DC-source. It is the fastest and most convenient way of testing the performance of a system built on ICEbricks products.
