Even over longer distances, XLR cables ensure noise-free transmission of audio and video signals in studio quality. This makes them the perfect professional accessory for audiophiles who enjoy music at home via high-quality stereo equipment, microphone cables or fantastic sound.

      What are XLR connectors?

XLR connectors are balanced connectors for signal transmission between audio and video devices, for example, loudspeakers, and are extremely popular in DIY audio. Due to their simple pin layout and robustness, XLR plugs, and sockets are among the most reliable connections and are mainly used in professional equipment. Hardly any sound and event technician, DJ or hobby musician can do without these connectors. XLR cables provide good sound and high-quality transmission for audio and entertainment systems at home, in the recording studio, in event technology and at live events.

      How do XLR connectors work?

XLR connectors transmit analogue signals and are balanced. This means that they have two signal-carrying wires as well as a grounding, whereas asymmetrical speaker wires (e.g. with RCA connectors) have only signal and grounding wires.

This small feature makes the decisive difference: signals can be transmitted without loss of quality or noise. Via the live and return cables, the original signal is sent once normally and additionally inverted; both produce unavoidable noise. By merging them at the end, the positive and negative noise cancel each other out and the signal arrives clear and without interference. Even longer distances of up to 200 metres and the interaction with other electrical devices are no problem.
