I bought the M300 MKII after reading up some on the DAC. My understanding was that these cheaper DAC:s are really good these days.
And how right I was. The M300 is really good, it gives the music clarity and allows me to hear dimensions of the music I had not heard before (I have a more than decent dac in my preamp). And how right I was. The M300 is really good, it gives the music clarity and allows me to hear dimensions of the music I had not heard before (I have a more than decent dac in my preamp). The difference is very clear. I have never owned a high end dac, but I would think that the test are true, this is a high quality unit that can compete with most of the European made units and units of high end brands that are several time more expensive. I believe it is very worthwhile and inexpensive upgrade. With my BBC-speakers from the mid-eighties the sound quality improvements were very apparent. It allowed me to hear how good this speaker really is. This DAC is highly recommended as the service of Sound Imports.
I use a Mitchell and Johnsson Preamp and amp combo (S800 and 815) which is around 3000 euro.
