Dayton Audio DAEX32EP-4 Thruster 32mm Exciter 40W 4 Ohm

Dayton Audio's DAEX32EP-4 Thruster exciter is built to turn large, thick, rigid surfaces into speakers. The 32 mm voice coil is attached to a steel spider for maximum restoring force when large amounts of power are applied, making it perfect for large glass panes, furniture, and surfaces that would normally resist the effects of an exciter.

A neodymium magnet is employed to create maximum magnetic flux around the proprietary voice coil for increased sensitivity when compared to similar sized exciters. In turn, this reduces power requirements and makes it possible to use very small Class D audio amplifiers, without sacrificing total output.

To ensure maximum acoustic energy transfer between the transducer and the surface to which it is attached, 3M VHB (Very High Bond) adhesive is pre-applied to the main body ... just peel and stick! Two male spade quick-disconnect terminals are built onto the main body for quick electrical connection.

A great field of application for this exciter is so-called DML or flat-panel speakers. DML stands for Distributed Mode Loudspeakers and is a term for speakers that catch the eye with their incredibly slim design.

Note: An exciter's frequency response and sensitivity are completely dependent on the exciter's designated surface. Thinner, smaller materials will tend to be louder and create a mid/tweeter response. Thicker, larger materials (with multiple exciters) will be slightly quieter but result in a more full-range sound.

Bought 4 of these for my DIY DML speakers and they sound just great. Of course, they lack bass in the lowest range, but that's just what they are designed for - mid and high range. Overall I am pleased with the quality and the sound they produce!

Bought a couple of Dayton audio exciters. Painless transaction to the UK. Items sold sans taxes and vat paid UK side. No 160 euro minimum as previously. So it seems all has now been resolved in trading with third world countries (as the UK has now become after brexit!). Delighted with smooth transaction, quick delivery and good communication. I will doubtless use again. Recommended.

Positiv: Leise, kraft- und wirkungsvoll, die Exciter haben meine Erwartungen diesbezüglich voll erfüllt. Negativ: Der Anschluss der Lautsprecherkabel mit den 2,8mm-Schnelltrenn-Kabelschuhen ist etwas fragil, ich würde mir eine robustere Anschlussmöglichkeit zB mit Schraubklemmen wünschen. Bei den gelieferten 4 Excitern hat sich bei einem Exciter ein Kabelschuh bei der Montage aus dem Gehäuse gelöst, ich konnte ihn dann wieder zurück ...

Excellent performance as an entry-level approach to tactile immersion. Even better when combined with large BK and TST models for multi-unit / multi-channel effects. Speaking of which, RaceBass offers a solution for better attaching these to seats for motion or non-motion rigs.

Used on a simracing rig, they are fine. One on the padals (even too strong) and one under the wooden chair (this one is a bit weak, would be better with two of those). Frequency 40 to 120 are ok. More than 200 a they are audible.

Added these as a second pair of exciters on my existing speakers in series/parallel with a pair of DAEX32U-4 exciters, on two 10mm polyurethane foam sheets with a 10mm balsa frame. The sound is greatly improved; with warmer and a full-bodied output. The bass-range is slightly improved as well, while the sub-base range could still use some improvement, for this I'm considering building a new amp and a small subwoofer.

Excellent power and performance for their size. I'm using four units directly attached to a bucket seat in a sim racing application and they deliver high quality tactile feedback in the 20 to 185Hz range. Highly recommended!

Excellent units, work fantastically well for Sim Racing enthusiasts when installing to the back of a seat. Used with Simhub I am working on 8 channel based effects and powered with 2x Behringer EPQ 304 amps. These will accept 2.8mm cable crimps.

This is a very capable exciter able to drive large panels to loud volumes. It is well built and easy to apply. I found on a 600mm by 120mm 3mm ply panel I needed very little eq to flatten the response. Used with a subwoofer crossing over at 100hz you can get an excellent result.

As a first DIY project I decided to go with the DAEX32EP-4 due to the good reviews. I found that they are are very good quality for the price and if hooked up properly they put out some nice sounds. I am planning to use a DSP and EQ it further down the road. I do recommend them for beginners in DIY projects such as myself. I found using them a breeze. Now i own a set of DML speakers which I'm very proud of putting together in up to 1 hour....

Deze thruster ernaar ik als een optimaal product. Zijn geringe formaat, hoge belastbaarheid( met correcte filtering tegen lage tonen) en zowel klankkwaliteit en rendement, laatsten afhankelijk van juiste materiaalkeuze plaat en positionering - zowel van de plaats van de thruster op het plaatmateriaal alsmede de plaatsing van deze plaat- wordt beloont met een geluid die je eerder bij high end verwacht dan van een luidsprekersysteem welke zo voorde...
