JBL Selenium D220Ti 1" Titanium Horn Driver 8 Ohm 1-3/8"-18

The Selenium D220Ti-8 horn driver's diaphragm is formed from pure, rigid, light, and extremely thin titanium (0.025 mm). To avoid stress and distortion, the suspension has specially designed reinforcement. An injected-molded phase plug is optimized to eliminate undesirable phase cancellations.

The D220Ti-8's ceramic magnetic assembly effectively concentrates flux in the gap, and highest motor strength efficiency is achieved through the use of FEA (Finite Element Analysis). A voice coil manufactured in CCAW (Copper Clad Aluminum Wire) and wound on a polyimide former assures great stability and thermal resistance, and the moving assembly has a perfect auto-centering characteristic that makes replacement easy if required. Standard 1-3/8"-18 TPI screw-on mounting.

Used H08RW 8" Round Waveguide for loading with crossover frequency around 2300Hz. ➕ Really detailed and powerful sound ➕ Horn usage made the driver almost aligned with woofer voice coil, less phase issues ➖Only downside is for me was - as I did 1 woofer + 1 tweeter configuration PA speakers, had to use lots of 10W resistors in parallel in crossover to tune its sensitivity down to the levels of woofer so that resistors would not be fryed...

My first experience with compression drivers but I really like this tweeter. From 95 dB onward you start to hear that the sound is coming from a horn but that can also be the hl14-25 horn itself. So at normal listening levels I can't hear that it is a horn. Works really well with brass, woodwind and drums. Trompet sound exeptional + ...
