The insulation used for Wax Coils consist of a specially produced paper type and then the whole coil is impregnated with a unique paraffin wax, especially developed for Jantzen Audio. Superior to natural waxes, this special paraffin wax ensures that there are no air-pockets trapped in the wax and has a higher temperature tolerance, compared to i.e. beeswax.
Highlights
- Made from ETP (Electrolytic-Tough-Pitch) copper foil
- The copper foil is C11000 / IACS certified
- The coil is impregnated with a special parafine wax
- Each Wax Coil is tested with the Clio system as part of quality control
- Insulation: Special paper

Jantzen Audio 000-8589 | 0,55 mH | 0,26 Ω | 2% | 16 AWG | Wax Coil
The Wax Coil is the innovation level for foil based audio-grade inductors. It is a high performance foil inductor offering improved power handling and dynamic head room. The wax impregnation insures the copper foil and winding integrity for decades of high performance. Using pure copper foil we have insured a better surface for electron travel and a better distortion reduction compared to single-wire based inductors. The Wax Coil is a further development of the Cross Coil, using the wax impregnation to further secure the tightness of windings.
All Jantzen Audio inductors, both wire and foil based are made with copper that is in accordance with ETP (Electrolytic-Tough-Pitch) C11000 and an IACS certification of a minimum of 100% conductivity. C11000 copper has a guaranteed purity of 99.9% or higher. The copper purity will often be higher, but 99.9% is the margin which our suppliers of copper wire and copper foil will guarantee as a minimum. The oxygen content of ETP C11000 certified copper is between 0.02 and 0.04%.
Specifications: Power handling: 16 AWG – approx. 350 watts RMS • RDC tolerance: +/- 5% • Resistance Inductance tolerance: +/- 2%.
