Peerless and Vifa: A Combination of Danish Audio Technology

Peerless, founded in 1926 in Denmark, has a rich history in the production of high-quality audio components, especially in the field of speakers. The company quickly gained a strong reputation in the international audio world. In 2000, Peerless merged with Vifa, another well-known Danish speaker manufacturer, forming Danish Sound Technology (DST), which also included the brand Scan-Speak.

In 2005, DST was acquired by Tymphany, an American company known for developing the innovative Linear Array Transducer (LAT) technology. This acquisition brought the brands Peerless, Vifa, and Scan-Speak together under the Tymphany umbrella, further strengthening the company's global position. Tweeters and Full-Range Drivers of the Neodymium Series (NE)

The tweeters in this family are equipped with Neodymium-Iron-Boron (NdFeB) magnet motors, designed using the finite element method. They have copper caps specifically to reduce flux modulation and minimize distortion, resulting in an improved high-frequency response.

Peerless by Tymphany's 2 inch and 4 Ohms NE85W-04 is a product from the NE family, packed in a state-of-the-art and stylish design, offering advanced transducer technology alongside the NE25VTS-04. The NE series from Tymphany includes full-range drivers with an innovatively designed open cast aluminum basket design that minimizes internal acoustic reflections and serves as the heatsink for the neodymium motor.

The Peerless D, DX, and DA Series

The tweeter in the D family features a specially treated silk dome, a large rear chamber for low resonance frequency, and a ferrofluid-cooled voice coil. The ferrofluid in the tweeter not only helps stabilize the voice coil but also improves thermal dissipation by effectively releasing excess heat. This results in higher power handling, allowing the tweeter to withstand prolonged use without performance loss. Additionally, due to the use of a wide surround and a large resonance chamber, these tweeters achieve remarkably low resonance frequencies for their size. The XT Series

In 1999, Vifa launched its first top product: the Ring Radiator from the XT series. This 25 mm coil tweeter was adopted by many manufacturers. The XT series features a patented double concentric diaphragm and a unique waveguide center plug, providing excellent on- and off-axis response. This ensures a better spread of sound and therefore better performance outside the central listening position. The Peerless XT25BG60-04 model, for example, has a 4 Ohm voice coil of 25 mm mounted in a ferrite magnet motor. The tweeter also has a rear chamber to create an extended low-frequency response.

The Peerless by Tymphany Woofer Series

Peerless also offers nine series of subwoofers, bass-midwoofers, full-range woofers and passive radiators.
