      Product details Dayton Audio BST-1

Dayton Audio BST-1 High Power Pro tactile Bass Shaker 50 Watts

The human ear can hear a wide range of sounds, but some sounds are simply too low to hear and must be felt by the body. Feeling this extremely low-frequency sound adds a new dimension to your listening, gaming and film experience.

      Tactile low frequencies

With a Dayton Audio BST-1 bass shaker installed in your home or car sound system, you can feel those low bass tones of the thundering weight of a dinosaur's foot hitting the ground as it approaches. Your favourite action movies come alive as you feel the gunshots and explosions hitting your body! If you love gaming, the BST-1 bass shaker is the perfect addition to your gaming chair or couch! The power and impact of a rugby tackle moves you to the pitch! Feel the recoil of your weapon during gunfights and experience the overwhelming explosions of bombing.

      No listening room overload

Unlike subwoofers, the BST-1 Bass Shaker will not overload your listening room, and its perceived loudness enhances listening at lower sound volumes. Dayton Audio engineers designed the BST-1 Bass Shaker to reproduce accurate, tactile sensations of your music and movie soundtracks. When a BST-1 bass shaker is installed on a resonant surface, the proportion of the perceptible sound becomes larger than what is normally produced by subwoofers and ordinary speakers. Conventional subwoofers are traditionally considered optimal when you can feel rather than hear the bass. By using a BST-1 bass shaker in your system, this goal is more easily achieved - allowing the subwoofer to perform at a more natural sound level.

      Durability and quality

A specially formulated nylon/fibre spider and the selection of high-quality hardware components ensure that the BST-1's internal motor structure not only outperforms the competition, but also extends the life of the bass shaker. Simply put, with a Dayton Audio BST-1 bass shaker, you can count on years of enjoyment from amazing, tactile sound effects.

Connecting one BST-1 Dayton Audio bass shaker

The impedance of the BST-1 bass shaker is 4 ohms. When used in a unit configuration, it should be connected to a stereo or bridged mono amplifier, as you would connect a subwoofer. For more information on your amplifier's impedance rating, refer to the amplifier's manual.

Connecting multiple BST-1 Dayton Audio bass shakers

Two or four Dayton Audio BST-1 bass shakers can be used in situations where more bass energy is desired or in larger applications. Connecting two in series will increase the impedance to 8 ohms, connecting two in parallel will reduce the impedance to 2 ohms, and connecting four BST-1 bass shakers in series in parallel will limit the total impedance to 4 ohms. Again, always consult your amplifier's manual to check whether it has the capacity to safely produce the wattage at different impedances.

WARNING: do NOT exceed the standard of 50 watts RMS per bass shaker multiplied by the number of shakers (example: 50 x 4 = 200 watts RMS).

      Installation notes

      Home cinema

Mounting the bass shaker on chairs or sofas that are not fixed to the floor will achieve the greatest effects. The bass shaker's energy will hit the user's body instead of travelling through the furniture and transferring the energy to the floor. It is highly recommended to isolate the furniture from the floor by using pads or rubber feet. Find a sturdy mounting point for your bass shaker(s) under and/or at the back of the furniture structure. Use four wood screws or dowels to secure the bass shaker to the structure. If a sturdy fastening is not available, it is advisable to make one from hardwood or plywood. Try to avoid dust or padding coming into contact with the tactile transducer. It is important that the BST-1 makes full contact with a solid flat surface. The recommended wire thickness is 13 AWG / 2x2.5mm2 speaker wire.

      Race Simulator / Flight simulator

Mount the bass shaker under the seat of your Sim Rig for maximum effectiveness. Find the point under the seat that vibrates the most by tapping the frame with a rubber or soft mallet. In addition, you can install bass shakers at the foot pedals for realistic feedback from the accelerator and brake. The simrig's frame can also accommodate bass shakers for an even more detailed and immersive experience. Make sure the bass shaker makes full contact with the mounting surface for optimal performance. It is recommended to wire before installation. Use four steel screws or plugs to firmly attach the bass shaker to the simulator frame. The recommended wire thickness is 13 AWG / 2x2.5mm2 speaker wire.

WARNING: Always check locations under carpet and recheck the mounting location to avoid cutting or drilling into existing electrical wiring, airbag sensors, hydraulics, brakes, gas or fuel lines.

      IMPORTANT

      • Install a low pass crossover of 80 Hz or less to reduce high-frequency noise
